KATHMANDU (Press Trust of India) - Nepal's "Living Goddess Kumari," worshipped by millions in the country, will be one of the main attractions at a special Durga Puja celebration in Kolkata (Calcutta) in a bid to boost tourism to the Himalayan state.
The move has been welcomed by Nepal's consulate office in Kolkata as a means of strengthening the cultural and religious ties between the two countries as well as to promote tourism. This year, they will be focusing on Nepal, said Nepalese consul-general in Kolkata, Suresh Man Shrestha.
Nepal's historic, cultural, and religious features will be showcased in the Puja pandal in Kolkata for a week starting September 22, as part of the celebrations, Nepal Tourism Board said in a press release.
